Chiam Historic House is the place where Chiam Lee Manhyeon used to live, who served as Enam Hyeongam and the minister of Hongmungwan, the Korean national press in the Joseon Dynasty.  He is the 11st descendent from Toegye Yi Hwang, and passed away by anger and disappointment from The Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty "Gyeongsul Gukchi(庚戌國恥)".

Chiam Historic House was built in late 19th century, when Emperor Gojong ruled in the Joseon Dynasty, and has a square type shape. It consists of 22 slate-roofed houses and has 5 tall gates and outbuildings.

Sarangchae locates in a higher ground than Anchae(main house), and the roof of Sarangchae shows their beauty with gabled roof and gambrel roof(half-hipped roof) on their sides. 

The house was relocated to the current place in 1976 because its original place, Woncheon-ri, Dosan-myeon, Andong-si, was submerged by Andong Dam.
